Daguerreotype Camera |
One would probably be expecting that the world's most expensive camera is manufactured by a world class technology company, a high-tech gadget or perhaps something that luxuriously glitters with gold camera body. Ironically, the world's most expensive camera is also the world's oldest! An antique 1839 Daguerreotype camera found in northern Germany which was privately owned by a family of opticians was sold in WestLicht Auctions, Vienna in Austria on May 29, 2010 for 989,501.61 USD
This Giroux Daguerréotype is the first commercially-produced camera in the world and bears the signature of the Father of Photography himself Louis Jacques Dagguere. Now that's a luxurious click of history!
